Compare the attitudes to war in the three poems Essay
ââ¬ËRule Britanniaââ¬â¢ was written in 1740. The title ââ¬ËRuleââ¬â¢ makes the peruser feel this is an order by God. Rule Britannia is an amazingly devoted sonnet which makes the picture that Britain is the spot of the Lord and Britain is the best. This picture is inferred by: ââ¬ËArose from out the sky blue land, This was the contract of the land, Furthermore, gatekeeper blessed messengers sung the strainââ¬â¢ This citation would make the peruser imagine that Britain was conceived from the ocean, by gatekeeper blessed messengers who are the couriers from God. This suggests God made Britain and how it came out from the ocean, so we Britain should manage the ocean. Another way that the enthusiastic picture is inferred is by the chorale: ââ¬ËRule, Britannia, rule the waves; Briton never will be slaves.ââ¬â¢ This leads the peruser to believe that the British are amazingly self-important, how they figure they will never be slaves likewise how Britain think they are the Gods of the ocean. A 21st century peruser would of considered this to be as energetic and pompous however an individual perusing this in 1740 would of considered this to be valid. England ruled the ocean and the British at the time would have never figured they would be slaves, they thought they were too large and significant for that. This sonnet is extremely impolite about different nations specifically Spain. James Tompson depicts different nations as ââ¬Ë Tyrantsââ¬â¢, in the setting that this word is utilized it suggests that different nations are self-important brutal self-assertive individuals, a few perusers my imagine that the utilization of despot is alluding to these outsiders being lawbreakers. This is another way that the sonnet shows self-importance, how the Britain is incredible and how the various nati ons are crooks. The essayist utilizes the picture of the oak tree to make an enthusiastic picture once more: ââ¬ËStill increasingly magnificent shalt thou rise, Increasingly loathsome from each remote stroke; As the uproarious impact that tears the skies Serves yet to just root thy local oak.ââ¬â¢ What this is stating fundamentally is that each time Britain gets assaulted it gets more grounded. At the point when an oak tree typically gets hit with roar of lightning( a similitude for ordinance fire from Britainââ¬â¢s enemyââ¬â¢s) which is being inferred in line three of that citation you would anticipate that it should get annihilated and split down the middle. This doesn't occur however, it just makes Britain more grounded. This would make an incredibly devoted picture of how Britain is simply getting more grounded from each assault and how the foe is never going to crush Britain. Close to the finish of this sonnet another enthusiastic picture is made, ââ¬Ë and masculine hearts to watch the fair.ââ¬â¢ This suggests the picture that the British gatekeeper their ladies and how the British are genuine men of honor. Rule Britannia considers war to be a heavenly thing, war is something that God would not censure. This is accomplished by the melody ââ¬ËRule, Britannia, rule the waves;ââ¬â¢ this gives the feeling that Britain should govern the waves, the word rule is utilized in a fascinating manner. At the point when I initially read this sonnet I believed that the word was Royal, as in it was a heavenly thing. I accept this is an intentional impact, the word rule is there to make the peruser feel that Britain should govern the ocean yet I think it is likewise there purposely as a likeness to make the peruser to consider Royal which would make the peruser imagine that administering the ocean is an order from God. In the event that it was an order from God it would imply that he was advising Britain to control the ocean so battle any wars they have to achieve this. Rule Britannia is a certain sonnet, no where in the sonnet doubts creep in. . ââ¬ËRule, Britannia, rule the wave Briton will never be slavesââ¬â¢ At the point when you read this you see the picture of individuals singing this uproarious, sure of what they need to do. This suggests this sonnet is for war, the essayist James Tompson infers that war is a dapper thing something that must be done, this is cultivated by the sonnet. The tune of sonnet is intended to be sung, when I consider singing I partner it with singing things which are correct and happy, it isn't frequently you sing about pitiful things, when the sonnet was composed James tompson knew this and intentionally made it so the melody would be sung. In Royal Britannia they writer neglects to specify of the negative, he even goes to the degree of saying that war just makes Britain more grounded, this can be found in my third statement on page 1. This assists with building the certainty of the sonnet on the grounds that no negatives have been referenced; this is suggesting that there are no negative things about war. The charge of the light unit is certain on a superfic ial level yet then some uncertainty appears to sneak in. The critical line in this sonnet is ââ¬ËSome one had blundered:ââ¬â¢ this line is incredibly unoriginal. It is the primary indication of uncertainty sneaking in. Later on in the charge of the light Brigade a similar line is rehashed twice, this line is ââ¬Ë All the world wonderedââ¬â¢. This line shows that individuals were question why these men were battling, what was the purpose of this. This perspective on question never entered the primary sonnet, it resembled everybody was concurred that war was an extraordinary thing, in the second sonnet this uncertainty comes in and Tennyson is demonstrating that not every person imagines that war is so brilliant. Dissimilar to the Rule Britannia the charge of the light Brigade makes reference to negative things about war. I trust Tennyson is attempting to show the peruser that the war isn't all extraordinary, individuals do bite the dust. As I referenced before the line about somebody bumbling is amazingly generic, this infers to the peruser that in war there are no people, everybody is simply observed as gun grub, in the event that you kick the bucket nobody cares. The manner in which the line is said makes this occasion sound like it happens frequently, typically when somebody blunderers or passes on you would be stunned yet the manner in which it is said makes it sound like a typical occasion of war, Tennyson has intentionally not utilized !, I accept this is him attempting to appear there is no stun. In war there are passings constantly, it is nothing extraordinary I accept this is the thing that the creator is attempting to appear. Rule Britannia sees war something that is important, it should be done to control the ââ¬Ëtyrantsââ¬â¢, without war these ââ¬Ëcriminalsââ¬â¢ would take the oceans, Rule Britannia even gives the feeling that the decision the ocean is an order from God. The charge of the light detachment is totally different to the view that war is sponsored by God, Tennyson partners war with death, ââ¬ËBack from the mouth of Deathââ¬â¢, this infers when these men where charging they were going into heck, so they when they battle and have a war they are entering heck, Tennyson is stating that was is thing of the Devil so it is malicious. The charge of the light unit suggests that war makes legends. This can be seen by ââ¬ËStormed at with shot and shell. ââ¬ËWhile pony and saint fellââ¬â¢ and ââ¬ËHonour the charge they made Respect the light Brigadeââ¬â¢ At the point when the officers began they were depicted in an extremely indifferent manner, presently they are being portrayed as legends. This would make the peruser feel that the writer assessment is that the individuals who battle in war become saints. The charge of the light Brigade was composed 1854. The word ââ¬Ëchargeââ¬â¢ suggests the picture that this assault was uncontrolled, disorderly assault. The charge of the light Brigade is extremely certain on a superficial level however question creeps in the further you go in. This sonnet has a rhyme which impersonates ponies jogging. All through the charge of the light unit there are relationship with death and the fallen angel, ââ¬ËJaws of hellââ¬â¢ and ââ¬Ë Into the valley of Deathââ¬â¢. The charge of the light Brigade has two endings, the first was altered so it was appropriate for the peruser. The closure which is imprinted in this booklet respects the men who partook in the charge more that the other consummation. The subsequent closure portrays the activities of the men as ââ¬Ëboldââ¬â¢, this infers the activities of the men were dumb and not thoroughly considered. To be proceeded.

War and Peace in Middle East Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1750 words
War and Peace in Middle East - Essay Example Center East has its own acknowledgment on the globe for delicate political turns of events. The region is notable for its rich oil assets and for its strict divisions between the individuals. Beginning with the significant and North African Country in Middle East; Egypt assumed indispensable job in the exercises of Arabian nations throughout the entire existence of the region. Numerous exercises of the Arabian nations spin around Egypt till the event of unrest in 1952. The nation was under the decision of Khedives and rulers for a considerable length of time together. Thus, it made the nation completely adulterated and it stayed in reverse. At the same time, European nations like Britain and France peered toward Egypt for business openings. Throughout time, the transformation destroyed the nation and the later circumstances were very surprising. The financial conditions were changed. The prolific land in the nation stayed unused and individuals have become poor and even asked for foo d. In this manner the nation was inconvenience torn for quite a while (Peter Mansfield, 1965). The remainder of the Middle East is consistently in news because of political and financial conditions. As indicated by David Fromkin (1989), the guest quarries between the nations like Iraq, Syria, Turkey, Iran and Jordan make the region hot and the nations every now and again traded fire at their visitors. Pretty much, UK, USA, Russia, and France engaged with the day by day exercises of previously mentioned nations. The created nations considered the Middle East as a play ground for their fight eagerness keeping in see that it is wealthy in oil assets. The proposition of coalition between Turkey (Ottomans) and Germany was a reason for Russia's misery and it incited Britain to attack Turkey and stowed a severe encounter. Subsequently, the inclusion of Europeans from 1922 in the Middle East brought about ascent of Arab patriotism. That made every Arabian nation in the Middle East to go abo ut as one against the demonstrations of Europeans yet didn't guarantee the foundation of a nation like Israel in the event of Jews. In the above course of exercises, UK needed to make Husain as the lord of Saudi Arabia to control the region of Middle East. In any case, it was impractical due to the socio-political circumstance around then. Subsequently, UK needs to keep up its military soldiers there for quite a long time together and it becomes weight to that nation. Over the span of time, Britain and other European nations needed to repair the circumstance in the Middle East as indicated by their desire. As the strict contrasts between individuals brought about debates between states, to misuse that circumstance the UK executed Balfour presentation to advocate Jewish national home in Palestine. Thusly, generous piece of Palestine has become the place that is known for land mines and a great many individuals were slaughtered in Wars among Israel and other Muslim overwhelmed nations in Middle East. As Palestinians need to manage themselves from Gaza and Israel needs to control them, the deviations between the two races consistently put the territory in slaughter and idea of Arab Nationalism has been strengthened.â

How to Cope with Triggers View All What does it mean to be triggered? In recent years, this term has been casually used to refer to the experience of having an emotional reaction, usually to some type of disturbing content in the form of media or in another social context, be that violence, mention of suicide, or other situation. However, from a mental health perspective, being triggered more narrowly refers to the experience of people with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) re-experiencing symptoms of a traumatic event (such as exposure to actual or threatened death, serious injury, or sexual violation) after being exposed to a trigger that is a catalyst or reminder.?? Triggers can be internal or external, including smells, sights, sounds, and emotions that remind the person of the past trauma in some way.?? When a person with post-traumatic stress disorder experiences being triggered in this way, it can lead to overwhelming emotions, including sadness, anxiety, panic, and flashbacks (vivid memories that appear without warning and can cause you to lose track of where you are or to relive a trauma). Triggers can also be relevant for those with other mental health disorders, including anxiety disorders, eating disorders, and substance abuse. Those who are triggered may relapse into harmful habits.?? Next lets examine the types of situations that might trigger symptoms and then consider how you can cope if these are causing problems for you. Types of Triggers As mentioned, triggers can be both internal and external events.?? Below are examples of the different kinds of events that might be considered triggers in terms of mental health problems. Internal The most common internal triggering events are the following list of situations: StressAnxietyFeeling overwhelmedA racing heartAngerSadnessFeeling lonelyFeeling abandonedFrustrationFeeling out of controlPainTension External Below is a list of potential external events that may cause a person to feel triggered: Going to a specific location that reminds them of a traumatic eventAn anniversary dateA violent movieA particular smell that is connected to a past trauma (e.g., incense)Seeing an overly thin celebrity (in the case of anorexia)Loud noises (e.g., a motorbike in the case of a war veteran)A particular interaction (e.g., an argument)Seeing someone else use drugs (for substance abuse)New stories about bad eventsThe ending of a relationshipBeing alone too muchFeeling judgedMoney problemsPhysical illnessSexual harassmentA particular time of day (e.g., sunset)Being in a crowded place How Triggers Are Formed While we dont know exactly how triggers are formed, its believed that traumatic memories are stored differently in the brain than non-traumatic memories.?? Past events may be interpreted as current threats, which causes the body to experience symptoms similar to the original trauma (such as the fight-or-flight response). We do know that triggers can cause an emotional reaction before a person realizes why they have become upset. Often triggers have a strong sensory connection (a sight, sound, taste, or smell), or are connected in some way to a deeply ingrained habit (for example, a recovering alcoholic who associates a particular activity with drinking). Some refer to this as traumatic coupling, where a trigger is connected to a traumatic experience, which causes you to relive symptoms. Are Trigger Warnings Helpful? There has been some debate as to whether trigger warnings are helpful or harmful, particularly in college classrooms. Trigger warnings are used to notify students or other consumers of material that potential triggers may arise in future discussion. Those who argue in favor of trigger warnings state that they give individuals a chance to prepare themselves for the trigger. Given that triggers tend to be more distressing if they come as a surprise, this could be viewed as helping those with post-traumatic stress disorder and other mental health issues to feel safe. At the same time, others argue that avoiding triggers only serves to maintain the symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder in the long-term and that the emotions that arise from triggers need to be properly dealt with in therapy, particularly if they interfere with daily life.?? How to Cope with Triggers How can you cope with triggers if you live with mental illness? First, ensure that youve received appropriate treatment to process the emotions you are experiencing. Once that is underway, you can use some of the following self-help strategies to cope with situations that are triggers for you: Practice relaxation techniquesAvoid unhealthy behaviorsBecome aware of your triggersAnticipate and plan a coping strategy for triggersCall someone if youre feeling triggeredKeep a journalEngage in regular exerciseRead self-help books to add new coping strategiesPractice mindfulnessPractice self-soothingPractice deep breathing Since avoidance only reinforces post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms, systematic exposure to your triggers offers the most benefit.?? Instead of feeling helpless and depressed, facing your triggers could help you view yourself as resilientâ"when done in a gradual way. Empower yourself by preparing to cope with triggers, rather than thinking of yourself as a victim. Become aware of signs in your body that youre reacting to a trigger, such as changes in your breathing, so that you can learn how to calm yourself down and shift your emotional state. Your ultimate goal should be to detach yourself from the trigger, re-center, and focus on your coping strategy. A Word From Verywell If you are feeling triggered on a regular basis and unable to cope with various situations or feelings that arise in your mind or body, it is important to make an appointment with a doctor or mental health professional to discuss your symptoms. If you have not been formally diagnosed, your doctor will assess your symptoms and determine the best treatment options for your particular situation. PTSD: Coping, Support, and Living Well

The Educational Software as a Motivational Tool in English...
INTRODUCTION The educational software as a motivational tool in English Language Teaching. Time has gone by and the teaching of foreign languages has developed, specially in English Language Teaching. Among the most significant advances one may find: the determination of the professors of trusting on their own resources, the right to choose their cross point between the theory and the practice and to look for pedagogical solutions to the problems. One issue that is still subject of discussion is that of motivation. English has become an indispensable instrument of communication in the entire world, taking place a proliferation of methods and teaching texts; from the one designed in 1580 called The English Schoolmaster to teach to theâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦It can be applied by means of didactic machines, but also by means of books, records and even oral communication. It is a technical device, apart from the Educational Technology that exposes the norms or techniques for the application of didactic programs. This essay presents an analysis of the possibilities of the use of educational software as a motivational tool as well as discuss its advantages and disadvantages in the teaching of English. DISCUSSION It could be argued that with the use of technology the role of the teacher is reduced to the elaboration of the program while the student acquires a predominant role, since he self-instructs, self-programs and receives an individualized learning in agreement with his/her rhythm of assimilation (Vygotsky, 1987), (Wood, 1996). Although this non-collaborative, in some cases, character may look not beneficial, this teaching type has its advantages and, consequently, its disadvantages. Regarding the advantages of the use of technology, it could be said that provides a constant activation and motivation to the students (Davis, 1992), provides a safe ground for individual work as well as a collaborative environment, instant feedback, depending on the tool, about the results of the learning and in countries with economic difficulties it could eventually contribute to satisfy an educational need in some contexts, that is, provide instruction to a large mass of students. Critical Summary Monsters Ball Essay Example
Critical Summary: Monsters Ball Essay Critical Summary: Monsters Ball Hollywood movie, Monsters Ball, condemns females into the darkest pit of degradation. It cleverly takes on a noble disguise where it attempts to teach viewers about morality and life lessons; however, it dismisses the issue of equality between gender differences that is yet to be questioned in our societys popular culture. On the glorifying surface, Monsters Ball tells a moving tale of a white, racist man, Hank, who eventually learns to discard his hatred and prejudice for Black people as he finds himself falling in love with a Black woman, Leticia. We will write a custom essay sample on Critical Summary: Monsters Ball specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now We will write a custom essay sample on Critical Summary: Monsters Ball specifically for you FOR ONLY $16.38 $13.9/page Hire Writer We will write a custom essay sample on Critical Summary: Monsters Ball specifically for you FOR ONLY $16.38 $13.9/page Hire Writer The story revolves around the persistence to overcome the obstacles facing racism while unfolding and discovering redemption through hope and the ability to put ones differences aside. It shows that interracial relationships are possible, and the story ends powerfully with the universal idea that love conquers all the ideology of romantic love in which love is the ultimate solution to all our problems (Storey, 104) when Leticia chooses to stay with Hank. However, one can imagine the rage and shock of feminists and females alike when one unfolds the underlying message of the movie; underneath this oilseed layer of a Journey to discover hope, peace, and love, lies an ugly scheme of stereotyping that focuses heavily on women. Not only does Monsters Ball portray women as weak, passive and lonely souls who thirst for nothing but a mans care and nurture, it heightens the notion that women are forever suppressed and objectified under the power of men. This essay will reveal the ways Monsters Ball stereotypes females, and will analyze the passages Logician Psychoanalysis, Freudian psychoanalysis and Reading Romance from book Cultural Theory and Popular Culture to support the arguments being presented. It has always been a popular belief that women are inferior to men. Through media, literature, and other forms of texts, the representations and practices that construct popular culture have influenced our minds into stereotyping women as sex objects and weak beings who are dependent on men. This idea ties with the notion of Womens pleasure, as introduced by feminist Roseland Coward, where she says that women are involved in an endless cycle of pleasure and guilt The essential attributes of femininity (Coward, 1984). She further states that feminine positions re produced as responses to the pleasures offered to [them] (Coward, 1984) and at many times, these pleasures derive from mens ability to give, thus sustain[inning] male privilege (Coward, 1984). Therefore, without a man, a woman is incomplete. In Monsters Ball, Leticia faces many hardships after the death of her husband. She has difficulty taking care of her son and fails to pay for her house, and eventually becomes homeless until Hank comes along and provides her with shelter under his roof. The notion of romantic love also ties to the fact that it is not a fantasy about covering a uniquely interesting life partner, but a ritual wish to be cared for, loved, times throughout the movie. For example, Leticia tells Hank repeatedly l need you, I need you so much when she makes love to him. The scene displays Leticia as an emotionally-unstable person after the loss of her husband. This idea brings up Tania Modalities claim about romantic fiction, that such mass-produced fantasies [speak to very real problems and tensions in womens lives [through common idea that women are dissatisfied with their lives] (Modifies, 1982). Tension and a sense of anger linger in the air when she screams out to Hank Make me feel good! in a desperate and agonizing tone. The sudden outburst of a need for sexual fulfillment also heightens Leticia weakness. One may interpret Leticia action as a way of fulfilling her lack. In the passage Psychoanalysis of Cultural Theory and Popular Culture, Logician psychoanalysis states that the notion of lack within oneself is an empty place that various attempts at identification try to fill The desire to find that which we lack [in order to find] our selves whole again (Lagan, 1989). In the story, cause Leticia husband is not there to give her love and pleasure, she finds it elsewhere, thus she makes love with Hank. The absence of Hank then will hold Leticia back from being able to fulfill this need; thus refers to the idea that a woman is not able to be complete without a man. Lagan states that the notion of lack is tied to ones existence in nature, where one longs for the once inseparable time from the mothers body. This union with the mother provides an important and symbolic tie and closeness of oneself to the mother. The search to fulfill this lack leads to Freudians ideology of the Oedipus employ, which states that because the child must now resign itself to the fact that it can never have any direct access to He prohibited body of the mother [the child must] move among substitutes for substitutes, metaphors for metaphors, never able to recover the pure self-identity and self-completion (Lagan, 1989), thus causes us to be forever drifting for the search to fulfill this desire of motherly care. In Monsters Ball, Hank searches for this lost maternal care through Leticia. Because Hanks mother dies when he was at a very young age, he lacks the motherly care, and thus is to able to rediscover his self identity. With the existence of Leticia, Hank is able to transfer his lack of care and direct it to Leticia. He learns to care and nurture her, and this sense of maternal care is thus fulfilled from Leticia as a substitute for his mother. This brings up the issue about the position of a female in a mans eye. She is there for him to care for, thus allowing the male to be the dominant one in the relationship. Once again, this shows male superiority over females. It is important to note the change in Hanks personality, which is mostly derived room the Journey as he travels to retrieve the maternal care; he makes do with substitute objects, with which [he] try vainly to plug the gap at the very centre of [his] being (Lagan, 1989). Viewers are able to see this ideology of Oedipus complex growing and transforming as Hank progresses in each stage of life. In the first stage, the mirror stage, the infant forms an identification with the image in the mirror (Lagan, 1989) as he tries to copy his movements and see himself in a more complete self (Lagan, 1989), where the ego of the child begins to form. It is ring this mirror stage that the child tries to identify and recognize itself through the imaginary. In Monsters Ball, Hank grows up seeing Buck as his mirror. Because he lacks motherly care at a young age, Hank looks up to Buck as the only source of mirror, which causes him to grow up to holding Bucks beliefs and values a mirror image of Buck. This changes, however, when Buck enters a new stage of life, of which one calls the Logician Oedipus complex. At this stage, Hank deals with changes as he continues to develop images through his surroundings. When Sonny dies, Hank realizes the importance of Sonny in his life; he realizes his love for his son, and he begins to take in the images of Sonny. He learns to rid his racist views of Black people when he attempts to ask Cooper for help to fix his car. He learns to be caring through the relationship with Leticia. Sexual relationships occur throughout the movie, and they heighten the popular idea that women are looked upon as sex objects to all men. Sonny and Hank have sexual affairs with prostitute Vera. Buck says the line l had more fussy after she (referring to Hanks mother) killed herself. It can be seen that all females in the movie are portrayed under a negative light: they take roles as prostitutes. All the women are unable to handle themselves on their own. And those who are too weak end up committing suicide (Hanks mother and wife). The weakness of women is also portrayed through the relationship within Hanks family. They mention their mothers many times when referring to negativity and comparing the sons under a cynical light. For example, when Hank tells Buck that he quits his Job as a prison guard, Buck is disappointed and tells Hank Mimi reminded e of your mother That woman failed me. Also, Hank says the same line to Sonny when Sonny fails to successfully walk Lawrence Mangrove to his execution. With the constant referral to females involved in their lives, it can be seen that in the eyes of these men, weakness is equated to women. Leticia again shows weakness when she fails to defend herself when Buck humiliates her. As Leticia unwillingly hands Buck the cowboy hat that she had bought for Hank, Buck puts the hat onto his head and humiliates her. He says to Leticia In my time, I had a thing for Amiga Juice too. Although Leticia feels offended and hurt, she holds her tongue and walks off in shame and anger. Weakness is again shown at the end of the movie. Even after Leticia finds out that that Hank has been dishonest with her, she chooses to ignore the issue rather than confronting Hank. Readers may perceive Leticia as being afraid of rejection, with the fear that once she confronts Hank, problems will arise and he will leave her. Thus instead, she drowns down the bitter feeling after having found out that Hank was involved with her husbands execution, and she chooses to accept it and go on with ill be alright, implying the fact that Leticia has nothing to worry about now that she has him by her side to take care of her. Coward develops an interesting ideology about romantic fiction. She says that a romantic fiction must consist of two things: first, they must still satisfy some very definite needs; and second, that they offer evidence of, and contribute to a very powerful and common fantasy (Coward, 1984). Coward explains that these fictions are regressive in two respects: on one hand, the romantic fiction succumb to the power of the male, and two, they are regressive because of the attitude taken to male sexual desire passive and without guilt, as the responsibility for sexual desire is projected on to the male (sexual desire that men have and to which women merely respond) (Coward, 1984). This shows female powerlessness, as portrayed through Leticia character throughout Monsters Ball. For example, Leticia perpetuates her image as a woman in need of Hanks love and care, and her willing response to give to Hank when sexual desire is aroused. Coward explains that romantic fiction is so popular because it restores the childhood world of sexual elations and suppresses criticisms of the inadequacy of men, the suffocation of the family, or the damage inflicted by patriarchal power (Coward, 1984). Monsters Ball holds true of all three conclusions. The story at many times highlights and focuses on the faults and flaws of women: Leticia fails to protect her son who gets hit by a car; Leticia clumsiness that causes her to spill coffee. And even when a man is at fault, (IEEE. Sonny failing at completing the walk to the execution and Hank showing weakness when he quits his Job), Monsters Ball manages to twist the fault around and point it to the females. For example, Hank says to Sonny in response to his failure to walk Mangrove to the execution Mimi are Just like your mother. He compares Sonny to his dead mother who has committed to suicide Janice Roadway adds to Cowards interpretation of a romantic fiction, where Roadway concludes that the ideal romance provides perfect triangular satisfaction: fatherly protection, motherly care, and passionate adult love (Chowder, 1978). She studies a group of women romance readers who say that an ideal romance is of a woman who becomes overwhelmed by difficulties in life, and then finds a man who will be able to are for her and nurture her a fantasy that men can bestow on women the care and attention women are expected regularly to bestow on men (Chowder, 1978). This connects to the need for motherly care, which ties back to Hanks need for motherly care, and he looks for this lack through his relationship with Leticia. Throughout the movie, it can be seen that females play a noticeable role in helping to construct identity within both genders, male and female. With the help of Leticia, Hank is able to recover a bit of the lost maternal care that he lacks as a child, hush developing him into a man who learns to care and love, and who is able to finally rid the racist views he holds against Black people throughout his life. On the other hand, females seem to be regressive in the development of a strong dependent on Hank. Viewers can see the slow but definite regression in the development of a strong identity throughout the course of the movie. At the beginning, Leticia is portrayed as a stable woman when her husband is still alive. Viewers then see how she suffers from longing to be loved and cared for, and thus urns towards Hank for the nurture and protection. Further into the story, viewers then see how Leticia is able to walk out on Hank and refuse to listen to him speak as he rushes to chase her while she drives away from Hanks house. This misleading independence is then wrecked when Leticia accepts Hanks offer to live in his house when she is forced out of her own house because she can no longer pay for the rent. Finally, Leticia shows herself at her weakest when she is unable to confront Hank even when she knows that Hank has been dishonest with her. * Through the delivery and display of numerous media and texts within our society, popular culture has implanted the very idea that women are inferior, useless, and weak when compared to men. Although we live in a society where we struggle to pursue equality amongst men and women, evidence show that difficulty persists, and we must continue to try to break out of this conventional and stereotypical view of women.
